Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue Volunteer Application

Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue Opossums Volunteers

VOLUNTEERS Are very important to us. Volunteers help with routine chores, cleaning cages, preparing meals, etc. Volunteers may assist at public events or with mailings or computer work. Bill always needs help with projects like fencing, repairing pens, and general maintenance of the facilities.
*Be prepared to work. Bring work gloves, wear long pants and closed flat shoes/boots.

**Please note – You will not work with animals at the start. Actual “hands on” animal care happens after we have worked together a few times and you have completed initial training.
If your dream is to spend your time holding and playing with baby animals, this is not that place.

Volunteer Hours

Because we are a home-based rescue it’s difficult to allow people in and out all days and times of the week. We do not ask for a weekly commitment, but rather a commitment with projects (usually weekends) if you are available.
The most convenient for us (and volunteers) is to choose a day when we have specific chores to be done. Usually scheduled on a weekend. I send an email asking for help a week or so ahead of time.
Some weeks there is very little to do and some weeks we are begging you for help.
*Children and pets are not allowed to accompany you.

Think this over carefully. IF you are still interested in volunteering, please submit an application.

Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue has been organized for the purpose of rehabilitation and release of wildlife, educating the public in wildlife conservation and protection and the natural history of specific species. In pursuit of its goals, Ferncroft obtains the assistance of numerous unpaid volunteers who express their love of and concern for wildlife by participating, without financial compensation, in the wildlife rehabilitation and educational services sponsored and supervised by Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue. 1. By participating in a Workshop or volunteer program, I understand I do so at my own risk.

2. I understand that there are potential risks and injuries inherent in participating in Ferncroft activities. I expressly assume all risks and injuries associated with my Animal Sanctuary programs.

3. Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue, its affiliates, agents, employees, volunteers, officers and directors, shall not be liable for any damage whatsoever from any personal injury or property loss sustained by participating in any Ferncroft WR programs.

4. I hereby waive any right or cause of action arising because of my participation in a program. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, I agree that this Waiver shall include any rights or causes of action brought by me or anyone on my behalf, resulting from personal injury to myself or damage to my property, sustained in connection with Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue activities.

5. I accept responsibility and agree to indemnify the Released Parties for all my medical expenses incurred because of injuries incurred during or in connection with participation in Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue.

6. I agree to defend and indemnify the Released Parties for all claims whatsoever for any claims brought by my health insurer or health provider(s).

7. I hereby give Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue the right to use my likeness (photograph or video) in promotion or publicity or other related communication in support of Ferncroft WR without notification or compensation to me.

8. This Waiver of Liability is intended to be interpreted as broadly as possible. If any part of this agreement is found to be unenforceable, all other parts shall be given full force and effect.

9. I agree that if any portion of this Agreement is found to be void or unenforceable, the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.

10. I agree to follow all health and safety protocols put in place by the Sponsors including those related to COVID-19.

11. If the rescue of wildlife is necessary, Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue is not authorizing any volunteer to rescue wildlife on behalf of Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue.

12. This agreement shall remain in effect as long as the volunteer continues to participate in Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue. The Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties hereto. It may not be cancelled or amended except by written agreement between the parties executing this Agreement or their legal successors in interest.

About Us:
Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue is a non-profit 501c3 organization. We are not a state or federal agency and receive no funds from the government. We are strictly a volunteer organization and do not have any paid employees. We are funded only through the generous donations of money and supplies from caring supporters; we operate on a minimal budget. Our mission is to rescue wild orphan and injured wildlife, rehabilitate and release them back to freedom in the wild. We do not advocate turning wild animals into pets. Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue is dedicated to giving each animal a fighting chance no matter the issues with which it comes to us. We provide various programs and presentations to educate the public about co-existing peacefully with wildlife. All we do is solely for the betterment of wildlife.
