Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue Volunteer Application

VOLUNTEERS Are very important to us. Volunteers help with routine chores, cleaning cages, preparing meals, etc. Volunteers may assist at public events or with mailings or computer work. Bill always needs help with projects like fencing, repairing pens, and general maintenance of the facilities.
*Be prepared to work. Bring work gloves, wear long pants and closed flat shoes/boots.
**Please note – You will not work with animals at the start. Actual “hands on” animal care happens after we have worked together a few times and you have completed initial training.
If your dream is to spend your time holding and playing with baby animals, this is not that place.
NEW Volunteers
- Need to complete an application.
- Must attend an orientation. We discuss wildlife rehabbing, volunteer opportunities, and the basic care of opossums.
- Must be over 18 yrs.
- Volunteers begin work in April and finish in October.
- Be prepared to work. Bring work gloves, wear long pants and closed flat shoes/boots.
- Bring your own lunch. We have hot/cold drinks and light snacks.
Volunteer Hours
Because we are a home-based rescue it’s difficult to allow people in and out all days and times of the week. We do not ask for a weekly commitment, but rather a commitment with projects (usually weekends) if you are available.
The most convenient for us (and volunteers) is to choose a day when we have specific chores to be done. Usually scheduled on a weekend. I send an email asking for help a week or so ahead of time.
Some weeks there is very little to do and some weeks we are begging you for help.
*Children and pets are not allowed to accompany you.
Think this over carefully. IF you are still interested in volunteering, please submit an application.
